Samsung Heavy Industries announced on July 15 that the builder won two drillships with a price tag of KRW 1.1699trn ($1.04bn) from Seadrill Draco. The contract had been signed on July 12 and delivery is planned in November 30, 2015.
The Korean shipbuilding giant is recording 43% of global market share, having won 61 units of 142 drillships ordered around the world since 1996.
Meanwhile, Samsung has gained $10.3bn orders year to date including the previous order for a floating storage unit of an European shipowner. Currently, the builder has achieved 79% of its annual order target, $13bn.
