Oman Shipping Company (OSC) has taken delivery of a new fuel-efficient VLGC, the Adam LNG.
The VLGC will be offered on the open market to oil and gas companies worldwide, OSC’s acting CEO Tarik Al Junaidi told press.
The Adam LNG measures 162,000 m3 in capacity, and was built at Hyundai Heavy Industries, South Korea.
The energy-efficient VLGC has been fitted with dual-fuel diesel electric technology that enables the engine to burn as little bunker fuel as possible.
The vessel’s hull has been coated with a new low-friction paint to help reduce drag on the hull and therefore minimize fuel consumption.
OSC has a further 10 vessels on order at Hyundai Mipo, South Korea, all of which are 50,000-DWT product carriers for delivery from 2015 to 2016.
