Angola’s oil company Sonangol has placed an order for two 156, 290 DWT crude oil tankers with South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME).
The contract signing ceremony was held on Dec.11 in Seoul, South Korea.
The Suezmax vessels will feature 274 meters in length, 48 metres in width and 23.7 metres in height.
As stipulated by the contract, the tankers are scheduled for delivery in 2017 and the construction is estimated to cost US$140 million.
The manufacturing process will be supervised by DNV-GL.
Sonangol has already two ships under construction at DSME, scheduled for delivery in the 4th quarter of 2015 and the 2nd quarter of 2016 respectively.
