Cosco Zhoushan Delivers Ultramaxes to Lomar, KC Maritime
China's Cosco (Zhoushan) Shipyard has delivered two 64,000dwt Ultramax bulk carriers, named Komi and Darya Tiana, to buyers Lomar Shipping and KC Maritime.
Built to similar specifications, the two vessels measure 199.9m in length overall (LOA), 32.26m in breadth and 18.5m in depth, according to the shipyard.
Komi was delivered to London-based Lomar Shipping, which is part of Greece's Libra Group. The bulker, which was ordered in February 2012, is one of eight that Lomar currently has on order at the yard, most of which will be delivered this year and one in 2016.
The 'eco'-type vessel was designed by China's Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), Lomar said.
Darya Tiana was delivered to Hong Kong-based KC Maritime. Cosco Zhoushan is building a further three Ultramaxes for the owner for delivery in 2016 and 2017.
Meanwhile, Cosco Dalian shipyard is also building two 82,000 dwt Panamax bulkers for KC Maritime, and Huangpu is building another four 64,000dwt Ultramaxes.
Cosco (Zhoushan) Shipyard is part of Cosco Shipyard Group, which is 51 percent owned by Singapore-listed Cosco Corp.
