Xiamen Jianfa Shipping, the shipping division of Shanghai-listed Jianfa Group, has inked a newbuilding contract with Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry (XSI) for the construction of one 5,390dwt chemical tanker.

The vessel, which is expected to be delivered in 2017, is going to transport raw material for the group.

The order is also XSI's first ever chemical tanker order.

Xiamen Jianfa is a state-backed enterprise involved in various business sectors including steel, iron ore, paper marking, agricultural products, logistics and shipping.
