Aggressive Chinese outfit Winning has again snapped up another aging cape. The new purchase brings its secondhand purchases to eight ships in the last five months. Sources said that the Singapore headquartered Winning has bought the 171,000dwt SA Fortius.
At the end of May, the sister vessel SA Altius was linked to China, and by some to Winning, but sources say, this is not correct, it is only SA Fortius that has ended up with Winning. SA Altius was reported sold for US$7.8m. Both vessels were sold from Greek owner Victor Restis.
The Chinese player's cape expenditure is fast approaching the US$150m mark so far this year.
