Ferry Order: Viking Line to Order Ferry

Finnish shipowner Viking Line has inked a letter of intent for a passenger vessel with Chinese shipyard Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry. The ship is expected to be delivered in the spring of 2020.

The LNG-powered newbuild will measure 218 metres in length. It can hold 2,800 people, and it would de deployed in the Finland – Sweden route, connecting Turku, Åland Islands, and Stockholm.

Viking Line's CEO Jan Hanses said that they have excellent experience with this from the M/S Viking Grace, the first large LNG-powered passenger vessel in the world.

The vessel's investment is about EUR190m.
